But this “victory” says a lot about the state of player agency in the Galactic War.

We were told to secure one paradise planet. We did that.

In the process, Terrek, Azterra, and Cirrus were effectively thrown away, while Turing and Acamar IV fell under siege.

That is not a complaint about players making the wrong call.

That is the point.

When the war is structured so narrowly that one objective outweighs an entire surrounding region, the outcome is already decided for us. The map may look open, but the choice often isn’t. You follow the order, collect the win screen, and then stare at the strategic damage afterward.

So yes, the Major Order was won.

But was this really a victory — or just another reminder that the illusion of choice is doing a lot of heavy lifting?

Brilliance was saved.

Player agency wasn’t.
